We were surprised to find out that the The Independent is a modern composition… to our ears, it sounds at least as old as The White Petticoat! There’s no mistaking that Lacey’s Jig is a modern tune, but thanks to a misprint on the album she first heard it on, Sophie called it Lacey’s “Sig” until quite recently.
